Centrolene notostictum most closely resembles C. audox, but are distinguishable in that C. audox is larger and that vomerine dentition and a larger humeral spine are present in C. audox. These are rather small frogs. Males average 19.4-22.7 % mm, females 20.8-24.9 mm Snout to Vent Length (SVL). Maximum head width is larger than maximum body width (head is 114.7- 142.3 % SVL !). Snout looks rounded when viewed dorsally but blunt when viewed laterally. Eye to nostril distance is 30.5-52.0 % diameter of the eye. Loreal region between nostril and eye slightly concave. Large eyes, oriented anterolaterally at 45 degrees. Eye visible around border of the jaws when viewed ventrally. Diameter of tympanum is 26.5-37.9 % eye diameter. Supratympanic fold is slightly thickened. Males have more robust forearms than females, with white extending from the elbow down to the wrist above the ulnar region. Tibia is 53-61.5 % SVL. When hind limbs adpressed anteriorly, the ankle extends beyond the snout. In this position,, the knees overlap with the elbow. Tarsal folds and tubercles absent. Posteroventral side of thihgs are very grainy’ pair of large tubercles situated beneath the cloaca at the posterior end of thighs.
