Description
A rather large forest Hyperolius (males 29–31 mm, females 38 mm) from central West Africa with an ill-developed or absent gular flap. Dorsum uniform brown or grey with a light silverish pattern of a characteristic shape and including a light triangle on the snout, or dorsum entirely light. A light spot on heel. Pupil horizontal.

H. laurenti seems to vicariate for the western H. chlorosteus, and a specimen collected in Lakota, Côte d’Ivoire, seems to show some transition in pattern. The gular flap and voice are so different however that they should be regarded as separate species.

The tadpole has a very long tail (200–250% of body length) and a tooth formula of 1/1+1,2.

A forest species only found in central Ghana and eastern Côte d’Ivoire.

Life History, Abundance, Activity, and Special Behaviors
The males call from branches above small, swiftly-flowing streams. The voice is a series of high-pitched screams with a distinct insect-like quality. The voice has not been recorded.

The eggs have a brownish green and light grey pole. The jelly is clear.
