Range Description

This species is endemic to central, southern and northern Sulawesi, Indonesia. It occurs above 50 m asl and below 700 m asl.

Habitat and Ecology

This species lives in lowland forest, including heavily disturbed forest. It is dependent on clear rushing streams of pristine forests (Lubis et al. 2008). It breeds in slow-flowing streams, and perhaps ponds and marshes.

Population

It is a common species and the population is believed to be stable.

Major Threats

It is presumably impacted locally by the loss of its habitat caused by oil palm expansion, cacao plantations, expanding human settlements and wood collection.

This species occurs in Lore Lindu National Park, Bantimurung Bulusaraung National Park (Lubis et al. 2008) and Nantu Wildlife Sanctuary (Khairunnisa 2014, Ayuningrum 2015) where it is abundant. It is also found in Pattunuang Nature Recreational Park (Yanuarefa et al. 2008).
