Etymology: Pseudacris comes from the Greek words pseudos, meaning “lie,” and akris, meaning “locust.” The species epithet triseriata refers to the three distinct stripes on the dorsum, as tri is Latin for “three” and seriata means “lines” or “serrations” in Latin (INHS Herpetology Collection). |
