Description
A forest Hyperolius from western West Africa, males small (24–29 mm), females large (32–41 mm). Males have a small gular flap and very little dilatable skin. Pupil horizontal. Dorsum smooth, dark brown with irregular lighter brown, dark-edged transverse bars. Ventrum pure white. The larger females tend to be more uniformly-patterned and yellowish.

The tadpole has the usual tooth formula of 1/1+1, 2. The larval tail is very long and both body and tail are heavily pigmented.

A forest species, breeding in small pools with stagnant water in the dense forest. It is apparently rather abundant within a limited area in the western part of West Africa, from eastern Sierra Leone to central Côte d’Ivoire.

Life History, Abundance, Activity, and Special Behaviors
The call is a very quiet buzzing, probably only audible at close quarters.

Eggs are large and unpigmented, surrounded by a milky jelly.
