Pseudacris illinoensis Smith, 1951
Illinois Chorus Frog
family: Hylidae
subfamily: Hylinae
genus: Pseudacris

Taxonomic Notes: The species status of this taxon is unsettled. Crother et al. (Standard scientific and English names, on-line) and Amphibian Species of the World (on-line) treat it as a full species, although Moriarty and Cannatella (Mol Phylog Evol 2004) show it is paraphyletic with respect to P. steckeri in mitochondrial DNA. Trauth et al. (Zootaxa 2007) studied morphometrics and recommend treating it as a subspecies of P. streckeri.
