Analambalotra near Ambavaniasy (Glaw and Vences 2007). Found at 850 m asl, in both pristine forest and older secondary forest, in streamside vegetation (Vallan et al. 2008).
Life History, Abundance, Activity, and Special Behaviors The only two specimens (males) were found calling at night on leaves about 2 m above the ground, in secondary forest next to a stream. Calls consist of a short and fast series of high-pitched long whistling notes (Glaw and Vences 2007).
Trends and Threats Not known to occur within any protected areas. Threats include habitat loss due to increasing subsistence agriculture, logging, charcoal manufacture, invasion and spread of eucalyptus, increased grazing, and expanding human settlement (Vallan et al. 2008). Possible reasons for amphibian decline General habitat alteration and loss Habitat modification from deforestation, or logging related activities Intensified agriculture or grazing Urbanization Subtle changes to necessary specialized habitat
