Only known from its type locality in the Serra Bonita mountain range (Camacan and Pau Brasil municipalities), State of Bahia, Brazil. The site is a evergreen to moist lowland forest remnant ranging in elevation from 200 to 950 m (Napoli et al 2011).

Comments
This species has not yet been assessed by the IUCN Red List; however, Bornschein et al (2019) analysed the Brachycephalus species using the IUCN Red List criteria with newer locality information and concluded this species should be listed as Vulnerable, based on its extremely small known range and ongoing habitat loss (less than 2000 hectares).
