Range Description

This species is known only from the type locality, Poços de Caldas, in Minas Gerais State, Brazil, at about 1,200m asl.

Habitat and Ecology

The specimens were collected in savannah. This species is believed to be a stream breeder.


It has not been collected again since it was first described, and its current population status is not known.

Major Threats

Mining and infrastructure development are major threats to the habitat in the region of the type locality, although there is no information known regarding specific threats to this species.

Conservation Actions

Its range is not within any protected areas. More research into its extent of occurrence, ecological requirements and population status is needed.

Listed as Data Deficient since it has only recently been described, and there is still very little known about its extent of occurrence, area of occupancy, status and ecological requirements.

Taxonomic Notes

This species was previously within the genus Hyla but has recently been moved to the resurrected genus Hypsiboas (Faivovich et al. 2005).
