From the IUCN Red List Species Account:

Range Description

This species is known only from the eastern approaches to Cerro Teotepec, in the Sierra Madre del Sur in Guerrero, Mexico, at about 3,000m asl.

Habitat and Ecology

It is known only from wet oak-pine-fir forests, where it is usually found under the bark of logs in moist areas. It is terrestrial, and reproduces by direct development.

There is very little information; it is known from a few specimens. The species has not been recorded since its discovery in the 1960s despite repeated attempts to locate it.

Population Trend

Major Threats

Although it lives in a remote area, logging has apparently been taking place on Cerro Teotepec, and this might constitute a threat to it. There is also pressure on this species' habitat from expanding small-scale agriculture.

Conservation Actions

It does not occur in any protected areas. Further field surveys are urgently needed to locate remaining populations of this species, and to better understand the causes of the presumed dramatic population decline.

Red List Status

Critically Endangered (CR)

Listed as Critically Endangered, because recent population reductions of greater than 80% appear likely to have taken place, and these declines are expected to continue. All individuals are known from a single location, which continues to be reduced in size and quality. It is possible that an enigmatic decline has taken place, however further research is needed to verify this. Possibly Extinct because the species has not been recorded since its discovery in the 1960s despite repeated attempts to locate it.
