South from Mistake Mountains (south-eastern Queensland) to Gosford (north-eastern New South Wales). The extent of occurrence of the species is approximately 63200 km2. Species occurs frequently throughout its known range. There is no information on population size, structure, dynamics or genetic variation.

Life History, Abundance, Activity, and Special Behaviors
Has a marked preference for mesic forests in areas of high rainfall and deeper soils on mid slopes or plateaux. Breeds in ephemeral water bodies in these areas. Lays about 300 eggs in foam nest. Tadpoles are cannibalistic. Hides amongst leaves and other ground cover on the forest floor, and in tree hollows.

Trends and Threats
Widespread, abundant in suitable habitat. Widely accepted as not in decline. Large extent of occurrence (> 20,000km2)

Threats
In the past clearing of wet sclerophyll forest and rainforest significantly reduced the habitat of the species and much of its remaining habitat has been logged. Logging of wet sclerophyll forest continues to be a threat. It is considered rare in Queensland because of its restricted distribution.

Conservation Measures
Considered rare in Queensland and is protected by state legislation. Some sites from where it is known occur in National Parks.
