Range Description

This species is known only from several localities (Colonia, 3 km NE Pebas, and Yagua village) in Loreto Region, northern Peru and from southern Amazonas Department, Colombia. This species is considered to have a very restricted distribution in northern Loreto, Peru (M. Ortega-Andrade pers. comm. 2014). It might occur more widely and is present below 200 m asl.

Habitat and Ecology

This species inhabits lowland closed-canopy flooding forest. It is not known whether it can occur in degraded habitats. It breeds by direct development.

Population

The population is considered to be stable.

Population Trend

stable

Major Threats

There are no major threats and there are large areas of suitable habitat remaining. However, there is some localized habitat loss due to human activities such as agriculture for crops and livestock.

Conservation Actions

Conservation Actions
This species lives in an area that has been proposed as a Priority for Conservation of Biodiversity (Rodriguez 1996). Its range overlaps with Yaguas Restricted Zone and Ampiyacu Apayacu Regional Conservation Area, however its occurrence in these areas should be confirmed.

Research Needed
More information is needed on this species' distribution, population status and trends, natural history and threats.

Red List Status

Least Concern (LC)

Rationale

Listed as Least Concern in view of its likely wide distribution, suitable habitat which appears not to be under significant threat, and presumed large population.
