This species is known from central and southern China (including Hong Kong), from 110-1,400m asl.
Habitat and Ecology
It inhabits hill streams and the surrounding forests and high-altitude grasslands. Breeding occurs in streams.
It has a large population.
Habitat destruction and degradation are localized threats to this species.
A number of protected areas in the region support this species.

Least Concern (LC)
Listed as Least Concern in view of its wide distribution, presumed large population, and because it is unlikely to be declining fast enough to qualify for listing in a more threatened category.
