Thorius insperatus Hanken et Wake, 1994

Petite esp�ce de basse altitude de la Sierra de Juarez. Connu de l�holotype, un m�le de 1,95 cm SVL. Narine tr�s grande et ovale, r�gion nasolabiale bien d�velopp�e, membres assez longs, mains et pieds �troits mais bien d�velopp�s, queue assez longue et �paisse, coloration sombre gris brun avec une bande dorsale vert bronze de l�arri�re de la t�te � la base de la queue, o� elle se confond avec la coloration sombre. Quelques taches claires sur les flancs et le tronc. Ventre l�g�rement plus clair que les flancs. Collect� sous une �corce � terre en for�t de brume de basse altitude pr�s de la localit� de Vista Hermosa, sur le flanc nord du Cerro Pelon, sur le versant atlantique de la Sierra de Juarez (Oaxaca) � environ 1 500 m, dans la m�me r�gion que T. smithi, dont elle se distingue notamment par l�absence de dents sur les maxillaires et la forme des narines et des doigts. 17 km2. DD.

ENGLISH TRANSLATION - Julian Wittische

Small lowland species of the Sierra de Juarez. It is known from the holotype, a male of 1.95 cm SVL. The nostril is very big and oval, the nasiolabial area is well developed, and the limbs are rather long. Hands and feet are narrow but well developped. The tail is rather long and thick, the color is dark grey/brown with a bronze green dorsal stripe from the back of the head to the base of the tail where it disappears with the dark color. Some light spots are on the flanks and other body parts. Ventral parts are slightly lighter than the flanks.

Habitat & Range : It was collected under bark on the ground, in a low altitude cloud forest near the locality of Vista Hermosa, on the north side of the Cerro Pelon, Atlantic side of the Sierra de Juarez (Oaxaca) at an altitude of around 1500m, in the same area as T. smithi, from which it differs by the lack of maxillary teeth and the shape of the nostrils and fingers. 17Km².
