Description
Ca. 20 mm. This species is still insufficiently defined. Skin on the back smooth. Back of adults can be light brown with a darker marking between the eyes. Ventral surface light with reddish colour on the whole legs (Glaw and Vences 2007).

This species is known from only two localities in north-eastern Madagascar (Marojejy and Voloina), from 100-1300 m asl. It lives terrestrially in primarly forest leaf-litter and is probably adaptable, although it is not found in plantations (Glaw and Vences 2008).

Life History, Abundance, Activity, and Special Behaviors
Habits: Terrestrial, in leaf litter. Its breeding biology is unknown, but is likely to be similar to that of Stumpffia gimeli, which has terrestrial nests that contain non-feeding larvae (Glaw and Vences 2008).

Trends and Threats
This species occurs in one protected area, Parc National de Marojejy. More research is needed on the extent of occurrence, population status and ecological needs. Its forest habitat is being lost due to increasing agriculture and grazing, logging, charcoal manufacture, invasion and spread of eucalyptus, and expanding human settlement (Glaw and Vences 2008).
