Andohahela, Chaines Anosyennes. It occurs between 800-1,400m asl in streams of rainforest (Raxworthy and Andreone 2008).

Life History, Abundance, Activity, and Special Behaviors
Habits: Observed during the day on stones and boulders in small streams in high-elevation rainforest.

It breeds outside water close to streams; the larvae then move to water, where they develop (Raxworthy and Andreone 2008).

Trends and Threats
Endangered: extent of occurrence is less than 5,000 km2, all individuals are in fewer than five locations, and there is likely to be continuing decline in the extent and quality of its forest habitat in southeastern Madagascar. It occurs in Parc National d'Andohahela (Raxworthy and Andreone 2008).

Possible reasons for amphibian decline

General habitat alteration and loss
Habitat modification from deforestation, or logging related activities
Intensified agriculture or grazing
Urbanization
Habitat fragmentation
