Range Description

This species is known from three localities in Misiones Province, Argentina: Campo Anexo INTA "Cuartel Rio Victoria", at 1,272km along Ruta Nacional 14, San Vicente, in Guarany Department; Parque Provincial Piñalito in San Pedro Department; and Villa Cabureí in Iguazu Department. Specimens treated as Scinax cf. berthae by Kwet and Di-Bernardo (1999) and by Kwet (2001) could instead be S. aromothyella, in which case this species is also distributed in some areas of Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil, but the limits of its distribution remain unknown.

Habitat and Ecology

Although two individuals were collected along a stream in forest, this species is found most commonly in open areas around permanent or semi-permanent water bodies, particularly during or immediately after heavy rains in the months of December, January, and February. Males usually call from emergent vegetation just above the water surface. This species is presumed to breed by larval development.
