Range Description This species is widely distributed in hilly areas in Taiwan, Province of China, below 2,500m asl.
Habitat and Ecology It inhabits forests, orchards and tea plantations, and breeds in still-water habitats such as ponds, pools, and cisterns and blocked roadside ditches. It occasionally breeds in pools of intermittent streams, potholes and streamside pools.
Population It is a common species.

Conservation Actions A number of protected areas are present within the range of this species. It is also a protected species in Taiwan, Province of China.
Red List Status Least Concern (LC)
Rationale Listed as Least Concern in view of its relatively wide distribution, tolerance of a broad range of habitats, presumed large population, and because it is unlikely to be declining fast enough to qualify for listing in a more threatened category.
