This species is known from eastern Santa Cruz (Bolivia); central, southeastern and southern Brazil; Itapua (Paraguay); and Corrientes and Misiones (Argentina). It has an altitudinal range of 0-1,000m asl.
Habitat and Ecology
It can be found in marshland within Cerrado and seasonally flooded grasslands, where it breeds. It adapts to human disturbance (for example, occurs in rice cultivation).
This species is locally abundant.
Although it is not threatened overall, it might be affected locally by the same threats facing the Cerrado biome (such as fires and agriculture).
It occurs in several protected areas.
