Plethodon montanus Highton et Peabody, 2000

13 cm. La plus petite espèce du complexe. Uniformément grise sur les parties supérieures, ventre gris pâle à blanchâtre. Parfois quelques petits points rouges sur les parties supérieures. Six populations d’altitude dans le sud de Valley et Ridge de Virginie, et cinq autres dans les Blue Ridge, dans l’extrême sud de la Virginie, la Caroline du Nord et le Tennessee. Sympatrique avec quatre autres espèces du groupe, du nord au sud: P. glutinosus, cylindraceus, yonahlossee et teyahalee, sans hybridation. 7 078 km2. LC.

Semble moins agressive que les autres membres du complexe, selon des observations en terrarium..
