Range Description This species is known only from the type locality on the north-facing premontane slope of the Cordillera de Talamanca, near Moravia de Chirripó, in Cartago Province in eastern Costa Rica, at 1,100-1,200m asl. Its distribution is not well understood, and it might occur more widely.
Habitat and Ecology It lives in premontane rainforest, probably in moss mats, and presumably breeds by direct development.
Population There is no information on the population status of this species, which is known from one specimen only, and is likely to be rare.

Major Threats The major threat is loss of habitat due to increased urbanization, and expanding smallholder farming and cattle ranching activities.
Conservation Actions It is not found in any protected areas, but does occur in the Reserva Indígena Chirripó.
Red List Status Critically Endangered (CR)
Rationale Listed as Critically Endangered because its Extent of Occurrence is less than 100 km2, all individuals are in a single location, and there is continuing decline in the extent and quality of its habitat in the northern Cordillera de Talamanca, Costa Rica.
