Distribution and Habitat

Country distribution from AmphibiaWeb's database: Ghana, Togo

View distribution map in BerkeleyMapper.
Found on or near vertical cliffs in forest or at the vertical sides of deep gullies in open forest. Only known from a few localities in the Akwapim-Togo range from south-eastern Ghana to Togo.

Life History, Abundance, Activity, and Special Behaviors
The males call from dense forest, apparently near small waterfalls or dripping water. The call is an irregular series of clicks with high intensity and a rather long duration, so that they sound “larger” than the voices of H. concolor and H. baumanni from the same area.
