Known from three localities in the Owen Stanley Range (900-1560 m a.s.l.), east to Mt. Lamington and west to Astrolabe Range, although its elevation ranges are unknown in the latter ranges (Kraus 2019). Kraus (2019) remarks he found this species in primary montane rainforest and in open forest with deep leaf litter and a tall canopy of large conifers.
