Range Description

This species is known from the eastern part of Liaoning Province in China, and the central mountains in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Republic of Korea, from 200-700m asl. It probably occurs more widely than current records suggest, especially in areas between known sites.

Habitat and Ecology

It inhabits riparian habitats in forested areas, and breeds in streams and rivers where the larvae also develop.


In the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Republic of Korea this species is rare.

Habitat destruction and degradation are major threats to this species.

Conservation Actions

Several protected areas fall within the range of this species. It is listed as a major protected wildlife by Liaoning Province in China.

Least Concern (LC)


Listed as Least Concern in view of its wide distribution, presumed large population, and because it is unlikely to be declining fast enough to qualify for listing in a more threatened category.
