Species Description: Gunther R 2006 Derived reproductive modes in New Guinean anuran amphibians and description of a new species with paternal care in the genus Callulops (Microhylildae). J. Zool. 268:153-170.
 
Taxonomic Notes: We follow Rivera et al. (2017) in recognizing Metamagnusia and Pseudocallulops as synonyms of Asterophrys. While the phylogenetic relationships of these species remains unresolved, they have long been recognized as closely related to one another.
