Species Description: Guenther R 2009 Metamagnusia and Pseudocallulops, two new genera of microhylid frogs from New Guinea (Amphibia, Anura, Microhylidae). Zoosyst Evol 85:171-187.
 
Taxonomic Notes: We follow Rivera et al. (2017) in recognizing Metamagnusia and Pseudocallulops as synonyms of Asterophrys. While the phylogenetic relationships of these species remains unresolved, they have long been recognized as closely related to one another.
