Range Description

This species is known from the slopes and piedmont of the Cordillera Oriental in the Departments of Cundinamarca, Casanare, Meta and Caquetá, Colombia (Lynch 1994, Lynch 1996, Malambo-L. and Marin-V 2006, Pedroza-Banda et al. 2014). It has been recorded between 450–2,400 m asl.

Habitat and Ecology

This species is known from disturbed forests and occurs on bushy vegetation. However, it disappears when the forest is cleared (Lynch 2006 and Cáceres-Andrade and Urbina-Cardona 2009). It is associated with fast flowing streams, although it breeds by direct development and does not have an aquatic larval stage (Cáceres-Andrade and Urbina-Cardona 2009).

Population

It is relatively abundant where it has been recorded, and was considered to be the most abundant species in Aguazul, Casanare (Pedroza-Banda et al. 2014). The population appears to be stable.

Population Trend

stable

Major Threats

There are no major threats to the species survival at present. Deforestation for agriculture is a localized threat to the species, however it is known to tolerate a degree of habitat modification.

Conservation Actions

Conservation Actions
This species does not occur in any protected areas.

Research Needed
More information is needed on this species' distribution, population status and threats.

Red List Status

Least Concern (LC)

Rationale

Listed as Least Concern because, despite having a relatively restricted extent of occurrence (EOO = 16,542 km2), it is tolerant of a degree of habitat modification and has a presumed large population.
