Range Description

This species is known from four localities in northern Piura Region (District of Carmen de la Frontera, Province of Huancabamba), and adjacent Cajamarca Region (District of Tabaconas, Province of San Ignacio, Department of Cajamarca), Peru (Lehr et al. 2007). It occurs at elevations between 1,900–3,100 m asl.

Habitat and Ecology

The species occurs in páramo and humid montane forest. Individuals have been found during the day on moss and at night on the ground or on vegetation up to 1.7 m above the ground. It can sometimes be found in terrestrial or arboreal bromeliads. It likely breeds by direct development, as with other congeners.

Population

This is considered to be a common species (E. Lehr pers. comm. 2008), and the population is considered to be stable.
