Range Description

This species can be found in Loreto Region, northeastern Peru and Amazonas Department in southeastern Colombia. Its altitudinal range is below 200 m asl. The limits of its distribution are not very well known, though it is expected to range more widely. This species is considered to have a very restricted distribution in northern Loreto, Peru (M. Ortega-Andrade pers. comm. 2014)

Habitat and Ecology

This species inhabits closed-canopy flooding forest, and generally it is found close to forest streams. It occurs in secondary forest, but it is not known if it can occur in degraded forest. Based on information from congeners, it is presumed to breed by direct development.

Population

It is an uncommon species. While there is ongoing local habitat loss, it is unknown what disturbance this species can tolerate and the population is believed to be stable.

Population Trend

decreasing

Major Threats

There are no major threats and there are large areas of suitable habitat remaining. However, there is some localized habitat loss due to human activities such as agriculture for both crops and livestock.

Conservation Actions

Conservation Actions
The area within its range in Peru has been proposed as a Priority by the Conservation of Biodiversity (Rodriguez 1996). In Colombia, it is present in Parque Nacional Natural Amacayacu, Parque Nacional Natural Río Puré and Parque Nacional Cahuinari.

Research Needed
More information is needed on this species' distribution, population status and trends, and natural history.

Red List Status

Least Concern (LC)

Rationale

Listed as Least Concern in view of its wide distribution and presumed large population.
