Red List Status

Data Deficient (DD)

Rationale

Listed as Data Deficient since it has only recently been described, and there is still very little information on its extent of occurrence, status and ecological requirements.

Taxonomic Notes

In the Phyllomedusa hypochondrialis group. Revalidated and redescribed by Caramaschi (2006) based on morphological features and colour patterns.

This species has since been transferred to the genus Pithecopus (Duellman et al. 2016).

This is an amended assessment created to account for the change in generic name. The taxonomic concept assessed here currently includes Pithecopus (Phyllomedusa) rustica, but this will be split off and hence both species will need to be reassessed.
