This species occurs in Gunung Mulu National Park, which is well-protected and a World Heritage Site.

Conservation Needed
Continued management of Gunung Mulu National Park is necessary for the conservation of this species (Y.M. Pui and I. Das pers. comm. March 2018).

Research Needed
Additional surveys are needed to better understand the population status of this species. There is also a need for taxonomic research for all Philautus species occurring in Malaysian Borneo.

Red List Status

Vulnerable (VU)

Rationale

Listed as Least Concern because, although this species' current known distribution is limited – its estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) is 675 km– it occurs in a well-protected national park where there are currently no threats.
