From the IUCN Red List Species Account:

Range Description

This species is known only from several specimens from Klarik forest, Bunguran Utara district, Great Natuna Island, Indonesia (A. Riyanto pers. comm. May 2017). The species is mapped to the boundaries of the island with a maximum extent of occurrence (EOO) of 2,079 km2.

Habitat and Ecology

This species has been collected from the edge of primary lowland forest adjacent to a garden (A. Riyanto pers. comm. May 2017). It occurs near fast-moving streams, where larvae have been found hiding under sandy substrate (A. Riyanto and A. Hamidy pers. comm. May 2017). It reproduces by larval development.

Population

There were no records since its discovery over 100 years ago, until its rediscovery in 2002 (Leong et al. 2002) and again in 2011 at Klarik forest (A. Riyanto pers. comm. May 2017), however its population status remains unknown. It is only known from six specimens.

Population Trend

unknown

Major Threats

The forest loss that is taking place within its range might constitute a threat to this species. As of 2011, the local government was making plans to build a road through Klarik Forest to connect settlements (A. Riyanto pers. comm. May 2017).

Conservation Actions

Conservation Actions
It occurs within a local conservation area on Great Natuna Island (A. Riyanto pers. comm. May 2017).

Research Needed
Studies on its distribution, population status, ecology, and threats are needed.

Red List Status

Data Deficient (DD)

Rationale

Listed as Data Deficient in view of the absence of recent information on its status and ecological requirements.
