From the IUCN Red List Species Account:

Range Description

This species is known only from the island of Sumatra, Indonesia, with records from western Sumatra (D. Iskandar pers. comm. May 2017), including historical records from the following west Sumatran localities: Kepahiang and Kaba Wetan (Bengkulu Province) and Padang (West Sumatra Province), although the exact localities are not known. The geographic range of this species is poorly understood (D. Iskandar pers. comm. May 2017).

Habitat and Ecology

It is presumed to occur in tropical moist forest, where the adults are likely to be subterranean. It is also presumably oviparous with terrestrial eggs and aquatic larvae.

Population

The population status of this species is unknown. Three specimens were collected from the type locality in August 2007 (D. Iskandar pers. comm. May 2017).

Population Trend

unknown

Major Threats

In the previous assessment, the threats were considered to be illegal logging at the type locality, as well as gold mining and water pollution. However, at present, the main threat is forest conversion for palm oil plantations (D. Iskandar pers. comm. May 2017).

Conservation Actions

Conservation actions
It is not known whether this species occurs in any protected area.

Research needed
Studies on its taxonomy, distribution, population status, ecology, and threats are needed.

Red List Status

Data Deficient (DD)

Rationale

Listed as Data Deficient in view of continuing doubts as to its taxonomic validity as well as absence of information on its extent of occurrence, status and ecological requirements.

Taxonomic Notes

The taxonomic status of this species is unclear. It is possible that some museum specimens currently assigned to other species might actually belong to this species (D. Iskandar pers. comm.).
