Conservation Actions

Conservation Actions
This species has not been recorded in any protected areas.

Conservation Needed
Despite the lack of information on this species, the disturbance and destruction of its riparian habitat seems to be a threat and therefore protection of this habitat should be pursued in areas where human activities are likely to affect it.

Research Needed
Very little is known about this species, in order to understand the potential threats to the species and necessary conservation strategies more general information needs to be collected on this species' distribution and ecology.

Red List Status

Endangered (EN)

Rationale

This species current known distribution is very restricted—extent of occurrence (EOO) of 421 km2—in the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia where it occurs in four threat-based locations. There is continuing decline in the extent and quality of habitat due to deforestation and pollution from coffee plantations. It is therefore listed as Endangered.
