This species is known only from the type locality at the southern end of Bougainville Island, Papua New Guinea, where it has been recorded between 500 and 1,500m asl.
Habitat and Ecology
It inhabits tropical rainforest and reproduces by direct development, laying its eggs in trees.
It is not a common species.
It is not clear what the threats are to this species. The conflict on Bougainville Island, which ended in 1997, probably minimised the impacts of logging on this species.
Its distribution on Bougainville and other islands needs to be determined, and its population status needs to be assessed. There are no protected areas within the species' range.
