It has an altitudinal range is unknown and might reach elevations over 4,000 m asl.

Conservation Actions

There are a number of protected areas within the range of this species; it is presumed that Bufotes pewzowi occurs in several of these.

Red List Status

Least Concern (LC)

Rationale

Listed as Least Concern in view of its wide distribution, tolerance of a degree of habitat modification, presumed large population, and because it is unlikely to be declining fast enough to qualify for listing in a more threatened category.

Taxonomic Notes

This species was removed from the synonymy of Bufotes (Bufo) viridis by Stöck et. al. (2001), who discussed previous confusion of this tetraploid taxon with Bufotes (Bufo) oblongusB. danatensis and B. viridis. It is partly in sympatry with B. turanensis, which is sometimes confused with this species. The species was previously treated under Pseudepidalea.
