Eastern Australia and inland towards central Australia. Coastal and inland areas of south- eastern and south-central Queensland and north-eastern and central New South Wales (west of the Great Dividing Range). The extent of occurrence of the species is approximately 963500 km2

Life History, Abundance, Activity, and Special Behaviors
Found in dry sclerophyll forest and open woodland and grasslands. Shelters in a burrow and emerges after heavy spring and summer rains to breed in flooded grassland or in billabongs and slow-flowing streams. Can tolerate disturbances such as grazing and selective clearing. Breeds in spring and summer in temporary pools. Males call from the water's edge whilst hidden beneath ground debris or in cavities at the base of grass tussocks. In disturbed areas it may call from depressions left in the mud by the hooves of livestock. Eggs and larvae unknown.

Trends and Threats
No known declines and extent of occurrence over 20,000km2.

Development in south-eastern Queensland.
