This species is found in the Itombwe and Kabobo Highlands, southern Kivu Province, in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The type locality is montane grassland at 1,900-2,000 m asl (Stuart et al. 2008).

Life History, Abundance, Activity, and Special Behaviors
Presumably breeds by direct development, like other members of the genus (Stuart et al. 2008).

Trends and Threats
The population trend is unknown (Stuart et al. 2008). It is considered Near Threatened by IUCN due to its restricted range (Stuart et al. 2008). It was rediscovered in the Itombwe Highlands by an expedition in 2011, led by Eli Greenbaum of University of Texas El Paso. It is not known to occur in any protected areas (Stuart et al. 2008).
