Northern Australia. From the Kimberley region of Western Australia into Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory and over the border into the north-western corner of Queensland. The extent of occurrence of the species is approximately 408300 km2

Life History, Abundance, Activity, and Special Behaviors
A variety of habitats including forest, woodland, coastal floodplains, grassland and permanent swamps. Commonly found around temporary pools. Breeding is from October to April. Males call from the ground beneath leaves or at the base of grass tussocks, around the edges of shallow, temporary pools. Eggs are laid in large clumps floating on the surface of water. Tadpoles take 6 – 7 weeks to develop.

Trends and Threats
Extent of occurrence > 20,000km2 and no known declines.
