Description
A medium-sized Leptopelis (males 34-38 mm) from forests around Lake Tanganyika with a small tympanum, large digital discs and a greyish throat in males. Dorsum red-brown to brown with a darker pattern and tiny light specks. Ventrum greyish, femur reddish, iris golden.
Described by Laurent as a subspecies of L. modestus, but I prefer to regard it as a full species in view of the unsettled taxonomy of L. modestus. The two forms are very similar, one difference being that the males of L. fiziensis have a greyish gular pouch, those of L. modestus blue.

My specimens were collected on branches in dense low bush at the edge of a clearing in the forest at Gombe Stream N. P. Known from two localities on both sides of the northern part of Lake Tanganyika.
