Nothing is known of its ecological requirements. It presumably breeds in small pools by larval development.
This is an extremely poorly known species, and there is no information on its abundance.
There is no information on threats to this species.
It is not known from any protected areas. Research is needed to clarify its taxonomic status, and, if it is a valid species, surveys are needed to determine its geographic distribution, abundance, ecological requirements, threats and conservation needs.
We follow Pauwels and Chérot (2006) in considering Kaloula aureata to be a separate species K. macrocephala, contrary to Ohler (2003).
