From the IUCN Red List Species Account:

Range Description

This species occurs in north-western Paraguay (Chaco Department), and possibly in southern Brazil. It appears that a Peruvian record is likely to have been a misidentification, as the species has not been recorded from anywhere else in the Amazon basin.

Habitat and Ecology

It occurs mainly in dry savannahs and breeds in permanent and temporary ponds.

Population

This species is not very well known, and there is very little information on its population status.

Population Trend

Unknown

Major Threats

There are no known threats to this species.

Conservation Actions

There is no information on relevant conservation measures.

Taxonomic Notes

This species has an uncertain status and is not known from the Amazon basin. It might be a synonym of Rhinella poeppigii. Duellman and Schulte (1992) pointed out that there is no known type specimen for this species, although Frost (2000) listed the distribution as "Peru and Paraguay", and Rodriguez et al. (1993) listed it as occurring in Puno Department, Peru. It is believed that the Peruvian record is a misidentification.
