Ranomafana National Park (Ambatolahy, Vohiparara) (Glaw and Vences 2007). It occurs at 900-1,000 m asl, in pristine rainforest along streams (Glaw and Vences 2008).

Life History, Abundance, Activity, and Special Behaviors
Males call at night from the vegetation along rainforest streams. Calls consist of a series of unharmonious notes which are less distinctly pulsed and have a stronger melodious component than in B. ankatratra (Glaw and Vences 2007).

Trends and Threats
Occurs within a protected area, the Parc National de Ranomafana. May require pristine forest as it has not been found within secondary forest. Threats include increasing subsistence agriculture, logging, charcoal manufacture, invasion and spread of eucalyptus, increased grazing, and expanding human settlement (Glaw and Vences 2008).

Possible reasons for amphibian decline

General habitat alteration and loss
Habitat modification from deforestation, or logging related activities
Intensified agriculture or grazing
Urbanization
Subtle changes to necessary specialized habitat
